Ministry of Law and Justice Jobs 2026 – 3 Contract Vacancies for Assistant Consultants

The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan, has announced 3 contract-based vacancies for Assistant Consultant (Contract) and Assistant Consultant (Research), both at the MP-III pay scale. Contracts run for an initial 3 years, extendable under the MP Scale Policy, 2020. Candidates need a foreign or local LLB, Barrister-at-Law, or Solicitor qualification, plus at least 5 years of experience in legal and legislative matters in the public or private sector, including drafting or reviewing conventions, agreements, MOUs, and contracts. An understanding of international law and legislative drafting experience is preferred. The age limit is 62 years for both posts, and public-sector experience is preferred in shortlisting. Applications must be submitted online via the National Job Portal (www.njp.gov.pk) within 15 days of the advertisement's publication; Government servants need an NOC from their current employer. Applications by hand will not be entertained, and only candidates finalized by the Scrutiny Committee will be called for interview. For queries, contact Muhammad Nadeem Afsar, Section Officer (Admn-I), at 051-9208816.

About the Organization

The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan, intends to hire professionals for two Assistant Consultant posts on a contract basis, initially for a period of 3 years, with further extension governed by the MP Scale Policy, 2020.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Assistant Consultant (Contract) – MP-III – 02 Posts

  • Education: Foreign or local LLB, or Barrister-at-Law, or Solicitor.
  • Experience: At least 5 years in legal and legislative matters, in the public or private sector.
    • Professional credentials:Experience in drafting or reviewing conventions, agreements, MOUs, contracts, and other legal documents.
    • Preferably, an understanding of international law and skills in giving legal opinions on policy and regulatory matters, along with experience in legislative drafting.
  • Age limit: Up to 62 years.

2. Assistant Consultant (Research) – MP-III – 01 Post

  • Education: Foreign or local LLB, or Barrister-at-Law, or Solicitor.
  • Experience: At least 5 years in legal and legislative matters, in the public or private sector.
    • Professional credentials:Experience in drafting or reviewing conventions, agreements, MOUs, contracts, and other legal documents.
    • Preferably, an understanding of international law and skills in giving legal opinions on policy and regulatory matters, along with experience in legislative drafting.
  • Age limit: Up to 62 years.

Short-listing Criteria (Both Posts)

Candidates with experience in the public sector will be preferred, followed by those with experience in state-run corporations/entities, and then private corporations of repute.

Additional Requirements (Both Posts)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at national and international forums.
  • Commitment to professionalism, discipline, and integrity.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Pay Package

Both posts are offered at the MP-III pay scale, under the MP Scale Policy, 2020. No specific salary figure is given.

Terms & Conditions

  • Contracts are initially for 3 years, with further extension as per the MP Scale Policy, 2020.
  • The Ministry of Law and Justice reserves the right to cancel or postpone the recruitment process, or increase or decrease the number of posts, at any stage.
  • NOC from the current employer is mandatory for Government servants applying.
